FAQ: I’m thinking of buying next spring, how do I prepare?

You may think that moving in the spring is ideal – school schedules, greater inventory, nicer weather, or simply a need for more time to prepare. If you’ve done the homework and have a professional like myself on your team, sometimes the door opens for things to happen more quickly than expected. People buy and sell homes all year round, even in Wisconsin (yes, really!). If your finances, expectations, and wish list are in order you’ll be in a position to jump when the perfect house presents itself.

Q: I’m thinking of buying next spring, how do I prepare?

A: There are two professionals who you should meet with as you begin your preparations – a mortgage lender and a Realtor. The lender will discuss your income, your savings and your credit score and give you a sense of the loan that you might qualify for. He or she will also share information about how banking regulations impact today’s mortgage market. I am happy to recommend some great lenders, if you would like. As a Realtor, I can give you information about equity in your current home, learn about your needs and wants, and curate those in consideration of homes available in your market. When we talk, I can also set you up with the myShorewest app, a way to begin exploring homes immediately. The rest will fall into place as professionals guide you through your individualized process.

It’s never a waste of time to have a conversation as you work through your preparations as a buyer, seller, or both. Please contact me, or share my name with others who might benefit, if a purchase is in the future.
